چکیده

Given a ring of ternions R, i. e., a ring isomorphic to that of upper triangular 2×2 matrices with entries from an arbitrary commutative field F , a complete classification is performed of the vectors from the free left R-module R, n ≥ 1, and of the cyclic submodules generated by these vectors. The vectors fall into 5 + |F | and the submodules into 6 distinct orbits under the action of the general linear group GLn+1(R). Particular attention is paid to free cyclic submodules generated by non-unimodular vectors, as these are linked with the lines of PG(n, F ), the n-dimensional projective space over F . In the finite case, F = GF(q), explicit formulas are derived for both the total number of non-unimodular free cyclic submodules and the number of such submodules passing through a given vector. These formulas yield a combinatorial approach to the lines and points of PG(n, q), n ≥ 2, in terms of vectors and non-unimodular free cyclic submodules of R.

Geometry of Free Cyclic Submodules over Ternions

Given the algebra T of ternions (upper triangular 2× 2 matrices) over a commutative field F we consider as set of points of a projective line over T the set of all free cyclic submodules of T 2. This set of points can be represented as a set of planes in the projective space over F 6. We exhibit this model, its adjacency relation, and its automorphic collineations. Despite the fact that T admit...

A Jacobson Radical Decomposition of the Fano-Snowflake Configuration

The Fano-Snowflake, a specific configuration associated with the smallest ring of ternions R♦ (arXiv:0803.4436 and arXiv:0806.3153), admits an interesting partitioning with respect to the Jacobson radical of R♦. The totality of 21 free cyclic submodules generated by non-unimodular vectors of the free left R♦-module R ♦ is shown to split into three disjoint sets of cardinalities 9, 9 and 3 accor...

Morphisms of projective spaces over rings

The fundamental theorem of projective geometry is generalized for projective spaces over rings. Let RM and SN be modules. Provided some weak conditions are satisfied, a morphism g : PðMÞnE ! PðNÞ between the associated projective spaces can be induced by a semilinear map f : M ! N. These conditions are satisfied for instance if S is a left Ore domain and if the image of g contains three indepen...

Projective maximal submodules of extending regular modules

We show  that a projective maximal submodule of afinitely generated, regular, extending module is a directsummand. Hence, every finitely generated, regular, extendingmodule with projective maximal submodules is semisimple. As aconsequence, we observe that every regular, hereditary, extendingmodule is semisimple. This generalizes and simplifies a result of  Dung and   Smith. As another consequen...

Cyclic wavelet systems in prime dimensional linear vector spaces

Finite affine groups are given by groups of translations and di- lations on finite cyclic groups. For cyclic groups of prime order we develop a time-scale (wavelet) analysis and show that for a large class of non-zero window signals/vectors, the generated full cyclic wavelet system constitutes a frame whose canonical dual is a cyclic wavelet frame.
